2023 is the Year of Trails in Wales!

We are surrounded by "trails"... heritage trails (like this one), mountain trails, long distance trails, mountain biking trails, trail running trails... and so it goes on.

This is the first of our "Year of Trails" blogs. We hope that you enjoy them and find them useful.

Barmouth isn't all about the beach! There is a lot of history to discover and the Barmouth Heritage Trail is a great way to discover it.

  • Victorian tourism with the arrival of the trains

  • Roman relics

  • First parcel of land given to National Trust

  • "Frenchman's Grave"

  • The Old Town

  • Ty Gwyn

  • The town "lock-up"

  • The Bath House

  • The origins of many of the shops that now stand on the main street

Click the button to be taken to the details of The Trail and go off to explore Barmouth with new eyes.

Barmouth is about 25 minutes drive from our accommodation.
